Colin Stetson’s “reimagining” of Henryk Gorecki’s Symphony

colin_1

Composer and multi-reedist Colin Stetson — best known as a regular collaborator with Arcade Fire and Bon Iver, in addition to his work with Tom Waits, The National, David Byrne and many more — delivered an intense solo set at Big Ears in 2014, and we greatly anticipate his return to the festival. This year, Stetson will perform his “reimagining” of Henryk Górecki’s 3rd symphony, accompanied by a 10-piece ensemble of allstar performers — including Arcade Fire bandmates Sarah Neufeld and Jeremy Gara, as well as powerful vocals from his sister, Megan Stetson. Hailed by Stereophile as “one of the most inventive and unclassifiable multi-instrumentalist playing today,” Stetson’s rendition of Symphony of Sorrowful Songs is sure to be a highlight of Big Ears.
