H.C. McEntire & Band present Eno Axis: A concert film from the Cat’s Cradle
“Early rise, start the fire, till the rows, pass the tithes.” So starts H.C. McEntire’s sophomore release, Eno Axis. McEntire has one foot planted in the traditional country gospel roots of her upbringing while boldly wrestling with its complications, creating an Americana sound of her own. In mid-November, McEntire assembled her band for the first time since the outbreak to play through the new album, released mid-summer by Merge Records, for a stunning concert film shot at North Carolina’s storied rock club, The Cat’s Cradle.
Pitchfork gave McEntire’s new release a score of 8.1 and noted, “With poetic lyricism, the North Carolina songwriter’s album brings order to the chaos of the day. Step inside Eno Axis and things immediately fall into place.” McEntire spent the last two years touring with Angel Olsen, has performed on releases by Amy Ray, Megafaun, and Superchunk, and co-led another acclaimed Merge band, Mount Moriah.
