Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog

The brilliant and omniferous guitarist Marc Ribot returns to Big Ears with his powerful post-rock trio, Ceramic Dog. Accompanied by bassist Shahzad Ismaily and drummer Ches Smith, Ribot utilizes his trio as a vehicle for his distinctive stream-of-consciousness songwriting. On the band’s fifth studio release, Connection, they push their long-brewing tension between traditional pop songcraft and avantgarde improvisational music to the breaking point, bridging their customary genre-agnostic approach with elements of glam boogie, minimalist disco, psychedelic boogaloo, garage-punk-against-the-machine agitprop, and so much more. Ribot declares their 2023 release as “the best record we’ve ever done.”
