Important Info for your Big Ears Weekend
Big Ears 2017 is just around the corner, and we are very excited for all of the amazing things this weekend has in store!
Whether you have your tickets in hand (they were mailed to you or you printed them at home) or if they were set to be picked up at Will Call, you will need to stop by the official Big Ears Check-in before attending your first show of the festival. Please have your tickets ready to be scanned when you arrive! At check-in, we will trade out your ticket for a festival wristband. This wristband will serve as your proof of entry for venues and performances during the event.
Big Ears Check-in is located at Jackson Terminal, 213 W Jackson Ave, Knoxville, TN 37902.
Check-in hours are:
Wednesday: 5:00pm to 8:00pm
Thursday: 12:00pm to 11:00pm
Friday: 9:30am to 11:00pm
Saturday: 10:00am to 11:00pm
Sunday: 10:00am to 8:00pm
Important:
We will apply your wristband on your wrist at check-in. Once you have had your festival wristband applied, it is not transferrable and should not be tampered with or removed for the duration of the weekend. You will be required to show your wristband at each venue entrance to gain admittance. Lost or stolen wristbands or wristbands tampered with or removed will not be replaced.
Big Ears Kick Off Party:
Help us kick off this year’s amazing weekend at the official Big Ears Launch Party at The Mill & Mine on Thursday at 5pm.
You’ll be welcomed by Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Big Ears Artistic Director Ashley Capps, plus poetry from slam master Black Atticus and student performances by our Little Ears partners Joy of Music School and the Community School of the Arts.
Then, Andy Bliss and Nief-Norf will invoke the spirit of the weekend with an homage to the late composer and creator of “Deep Listening” Pauline Oliveros — whose presence at Big Ears 2009 continues to resonate throughout the festival — performing her Single Stroke Roll Meditation, followed by a performance of Michael Gordon’s riveting percussion masterwork, Timber.
