Pauline Oliveros: ROCK PIECE

Following the Pauline Oliveros: Impact and Influence panel paying tribute to the late composer, join us at The Mill & Mine for a Sunday afternoon Big Ears rendition of her 1979 ensemble work Rock Piece. Indulge in deep listening as Big Ears artists create pulses with resonant rocks used as percussive instruments. Organized by pianist Emily Manzo (who will perform as part of Julius Eastman’s Memorial Dinner), Rock Piece will be performed from a text score, directing participants to hit rocks together to create a pulse without synchronizing with or subdividing the pulses of other participants.
