The Story Behind Carnival of Souls
At Big Ears 2019, Mercury Rev will offer a rare performance with its Clear Light Ensemble, an evolving coterie of musicians including Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley and the Bad Seeds’ Jim Sclavunos. They will improvise a live score to Carnival of Souls, a beautiful and captivating cult-horror favorite from 1962 that inspired David Lynch and presaged Night of the Living Dead.
