Watch: Giri and Uma Peter Perform “The Cuckoo”

Yesterday, we announced that Giri and Uma Peters—an Indian-American pair of teen and preteen siblings from Nashville—will be appearing at Big Ears 2019 at the behest of Rhiannon Giddens. Uma is a rising clawhammer banjo star, now under the tutelage of Rhiannon. In fact, she taught them long-standing Appalachian folk standard “The Cuckoo,” which you can watch them belt out here. Uma plays with Rhiannon Friday night, then with Giri Saturday night.
