BE 2026

PREVIEW: Fatty Arbuckle’s Coney Island with Live Score by Chris Eldridge

At Big Ears 2019, a number of different acts will score several films in real-time, from Coupler’s ambient hum alongside Dragnet Girl to Mercury Rev’s take on Carnival of Souls. One addition to our programming comes from Punch Brother Chris “Critter” Eldridge, a bluegrass scion who will offer a live soundtrack to the zany 1917 Fatty Arbuckle silent flick, Coney Island. A specific document of place and time as well as an eternal reflection of the silly things men do in pursuit of romantic attraction, Coney Island is a strange delight. Watch this edit in preparation for Critter’s set next week.
