STÅLE STORLØKKEN & ARVE HENRIKSEN
Keyboard virtuoso Ståle Storløkken is one of Norway’s leading jazz artists. He is founder of both Supersilent and Humcrush and has collaborated and recorded with many other leading musicians, including guitarist Terje Rypdal and the band Motorpsycho. His rare solo concerts are spoken of in hushed tones and we’re delighted that he will share one with us this year at Big Ears.
Arve Henriksen’s beautiful, evocative trumpet – inspired by the sound of the Japanese shakuhachi flute – has made him one of the world’s most distinctive and in demand musicians. Arve is also known for his ethereal singing. In addition to his Supersilent performance, he will present a special concert at Church Street United Methodist Church, joined by Ståle Storløkken on the church’s world class pipe organ. It’s sure to be one of the most memorable experiences at this year’s festival.
