Medeski • Russo • Ribot

Sun   Mar   24   2024 - 9:15 PM Mill & Mine

The musical trio of John Medeski, Joe Russo, and Marc Ribot is an electrifying convergence of three virtuosic talents, each renowned in their own right, coming together to create an unparalleled sonic experience. The trio performed for the first time in September 2023 at a pair of shows benefiting the Music Workers Alliance and Big Ears is honored to host the trio for a second appearance at the 2024 festival.

Marc Ribot is an acclaimed guitarist and composer who has explored many genres through his work as a session musician. He’s released over two dozen solo albums over his career and currently plays with many groups, including his Ceramic Dog. Best known as the powerhouse drummer for the Grateful Dead tribute, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Joe Russo injects a relentless energy and rhythmic complexity that propels their music to new heights. He’s played alongside numerous musicians, including the Dead’s Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, but his latest collaborative endeavor is his jazz project, Selcouth Quartet, also making an appearance at the 2024 festival. Rounding out the trio is pianist, organist, and composer John Medeski. He gained popularity as a member of Medeski, Martin, and Wood, but has released two solo albums and has performed alongside the likes of John Zorn, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, and many others. Together, they embark on a musical journey that defies categorization, blending elements of jazz, rock, funk, and experimental music.
