Horse Lords are an avant-garde rock band hailing from Baltimore, Maryland. Their experimentation with krautrock, post-punk, traditional Appalachian, African folklore, polyrhythms, arcane tunings, and use of electronics has earned them praise as a “non traditional rock” band by Pitchfork. Horse Lords’ 2020 return, Comradely Objects, finds the quartet of Andrew Bernstein (saxophone, percussion, electronics), Max Eilbacher (bass, electronics), Owen Gardner (guitar, electronics), and Sam Haberman (drums) solidifying their position among the foremost smugglers of radical musical and political ideas into contemporary music that also happens to rock — in its own decidedly and compellingly unique way. They released a new EP, Live in Leipzig, in early 2023.
