The endlessly gifted pianist, composer, bandleader, and educator Myra Melford returns to Big Ears with her dynamic all-star, all-female ensemble, Fire and Water. The quintet brings together Melford (leader/composer/piano), Ingrid Laubrock (tenor and soprano saxophones), Mary Halvorson (electric guitar), Tomeka Reid (cello), and Lesley Mok (drums). They debuted their critically acclaimed release For the Love of Fire and Water in April 2022 and have a second release coming in October 2023, Hear the Light Singing.
