Parker Ramsey & Miranda Cuckson

Parker Ramsay has forged a career that defies classification, expanding the harp’s repertoire and bringing the instrument to new audiences through performance, commissioning, and scholarship. He has performed at Lincoln Center, Miller Theatre, 92NY, the Phillips Collection, Cal Performances, IRCAM, King’s College Cambridge, and Spoleto Festival USA, and collaborated with ensembles like Apollo’s Fire, Mark Morris Dance Group, and the Van Kuijk Quartet. His discography includes a celebrated 2020 recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, and the 2022 world premiere recording of The Street, a concert-length work for solo harp and text by Nico Muhly and Alice Goodman. One of the world’s leading commissioners of new music for harp, he has premiered works by Georg Friedrich Haas, Nico Muhly, Aida Shirazi, Marcos Balter, Artun Çekem, Lucy McKnight, Connor Way, Iarla Ó Lionáird, and Josh Levine. As a baroque harpist, harpsichordist, and organist, he co-directs period-instrument ensemble A Golden Wire; and he has contributed to publications including The New York Times and VAN Magazine. Raised in Tennessee, Ramsay studied at Oberlin and Juilliard and served as organ scholar at King’s College Cambridge. He lives in NYC and is pursuing a Ph.D. in historical musicology at Columbia University.

Violinist/violist Miranda Cuckson has delighted audiences worldwide with her performances of music ranging from older eras to the newest creations. In demand as a soloist and collaborator, she has been a featured artist internationally at festivals including Wien Modern, Grafenegg, Ojai, Sinus Ton, Le GuessWho, West Cork, Bard, Frequency, TimeSpans, Lincoln Center, Time Spans, and Ojai, and venues including St. Paul’s Liquid Music, 92NY, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, Mexico City’s Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Library of Congress, Cleveland Museum, San Francisco Performances, Boston’s Gardner Museum, and Detroit Institute of Art. The live recording of her recent concerto debut at the Vienna Musikverein playing Georg Friedrich Haas’ Violin Concerto No. 2 was released on the Urlicht label to great acclaim, as was her live performance of the Ligeti Violin Concerto with the UC Davis Orchestra, released on Centaur Records. Her albums include “Melting the Darkness”, a solo album of contemporary pieces; Bartok, Schnittke, and Lutoslawski duos on ECM Records; and Nono’s “La lontananza nostalgica utopica futura” which was named a Recording of the Year by the New York Times. She teaches at Mannes College/New School University and holds a doctorate from The Juilliard School.
