Foundation for Contemporary Arts Names 2019 Grants to Artists, Including Two Big Ears 2019 Artists

Last week, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts announced the 40 recipients of its prestigious grants—$40,000, unrestricted. Two Big Ears 2019 performers were among the winners. Camae Ayewa will perform at Big Ears 2019 as Moor Mother and as the vocalist of the radical jazz group Irreversible Entanglements. Cellist, composer, and improviser Tomeka Reid will perform with the Artifacts Trio and The Art Ensemble of Chicago. What’s more, C. Spencer Yeh (aka Burning Star Core) earned a grant, too—he was part of the very first Big Ears back in 2009. Congrats to all the winners; see a full list here.
