Listen: Harold Budd’s La Bella Vista
We can think of few things better than a Sunday afternoon in October scored by Harold Budd, the self-described “soft pedal” pianist and composer who seems to trace the very shape of stillness. A decade or so ago, his friend and collaborator Daniel Lanois clandestinely recorded Budd at the piano, improvisations that become the basis for the gorgeous La Bella Vista. Have a seat, and have a listen.
