Listen: Uncle Earl On Mountain Stage

Though it’s nearly a decade old, this Mountain Stage set by Uncle Earl remains a gem; after all, despite their progressive flourishes, their string-band music is a part of a timeless Americana bedrock. On “The Last Goodbye,” the hurt is exquisite and pronounced; during the fiddle tune “Ida Red,” they are unbridled and playful, jubilant in the song’s stepping-out query. Give it a listen, and see the classic Uncle Earl configuration play a rare reunion show at Big Ears 2019.
