Matana Roberts presents COIN COIN

The fearless and powerful sound experimentalist Matana Roberts is perhaps best known for her visionary 12-album series COIN COIN, a multi-chapter work of “panoramic sound quilting” that channels the intuitive spirit-raising traditions of American creative expression. In the words of The Guardian, “Most artists end up looking cautious and blinkered when put next to Matana Roberts.” We couldn’t agree more. Roberts will perform her provocative, important work as well as collaborate with filmmaker Jem Cohen at Big Ears, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the festival.
