Have you heard serpentwithfeet’s Morning Edition interview on NPR? It’s as vulnerable, engaging, and candid as the grand soul music serpentwithfeet makes, full of confessions about growing up queer in a church-singing family, trusting someone else with your love, and finally making your mother happy. And it’s wonderful to hear Josiah Wise’s speaking and singing voices in such close juxtaposition. We can’t get enough of this quote, either, about the power Wise found in his rejection from music conservatories. “No is really important. No is where the nutrients are. I love yes, but no encourages us to find new resources.”
