Spotlight on Joan Shelley
In addition to her performance with fellow Kentucky composer Rachel Grimes’ folk opera, Joan Shelley will treat us to an intimate solo performance at The Square Room on Saturday night. While Shelley’s music and lyrics are reminiscent of singer-songwriters of the 1960s and ‘70s, her sound — especially that voice — is all her own. Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy has produced Shelley’s forthcoming record, and we’re eager to hear more like this song released last week.
