BIG EARS

Spotlight on Sarah Kirkland Snider

The New York Times hailed her music as “rapturous.” Pitchfork deemed her “one of the decade’s more gifted, up-and-coming modern classical composers.” We’re especially proud to call her a Big Ears artist. Sarah Kirkland Snider has an ear for both the structural and poetic, drawing upon a variety of influences to render a nuanced command of storytelling. One of the true gems on the lineup this year, Sarah Kirkland Snider will perform her mesmerizing 2015 album Unremembered, a 13-part song cycle inspired by poems and illustrations by Nathaniel Bellows, with vocalists Shara Nova (My Brightest Diamond), Padma Newsome (of Big Ears vet Clogs), and DM Stith (of Sufjan Stevens fame), with the NY Knights. You won’t want to miss Snider’s compositional skill interweaved with Bellow’s hand-drawn illustrations, photography, and videography for their beautiful work of art at the Bijou Theatre on Thursday, March 23.
