Watch: Behind The Scenes of Bill Morrison and Bill Frisell’s Electricity

Filmmaker Bill Morrison and guitarist Bill Frisell have collaborated for decades now, not with Frisell simply scoring Morrison’s movies but with the two working together to make work where sound and image seem to communicate. Last year, Morrison premiered Electricity, a playful look at the way archival films represented the possibility of power coming into people’s houses. We love what Morrison has to say about Frisell’s compositions in this trailer: “He expands time in such a magical way. I thought he could create something that I could edit to that would have this elasticity, that he could guide the project that way.” Frisell plays his scores for some of Morrison’s films at Big Ears 2019.
