Watch: Bill Frisell Reimagines Songs of John Lennon for His Tiny Desk Concert

Perhaps the only thing that can rival Bill Frisell’s elegance, versatility, and vocabulary as a guitar player is the humility he brings to it. (We’re thinking the two might be related?) During this Tiny Desk performance from 2012, he apologizes multiple times to the studio audience, as he’s never played these three John Lennon songs solo and live. He’s reading them, and he seems frustrated by the fact that he’s yet to commit them to memory. It’s humbling to watch—and gorgeous to hear.
