Wu Fei: Genre-Bending Composer + Guzheng Virtuoso

Genre-bending composer and guzheng virtuoso Wu Fei is equally at home as an improvisor as she is composing for chamber ensembles, choirs, orchestras, soundtracks or dance performances.

In addition to working with avant-garde icons John Zorn and Fred Frith, the recent Nashville transplant has performed with Grammy-winning musician Abigail Washburn, melding traditions of Appalachian music with Chinese folk influence to concoct a genre-hopping sound that’s all their own.

Wu Fei has even teamed up with a speeding locomotive for an awe-inspiring performance. (Really.) We greatly anticipate her Big Ears debut this spring.
