Best of 2016: Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith

Composer and synthesist Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith had a tremendous 2016, with her recording Ears popping up on a bunch Best of 2016 lists – from NPR to Rolling Stone to Pitchfork to The Wire, to name a few – and for very good reason.

To borrow Pitchfork‘s words, “in her hands, acoustic instruments sound like electronic ones, synthetic sounds reference nature, and human voices sound like the creation of machines.”

We look forward to her Big Ears debut in March.
