LISTEN: Columbia Icefield Releases Debut LP
At long last, the all-star quartet Columbia Icefield—trumpeter Nate Wooley, steel guitarist Susan Alcorn, guitarist Mary Halvorson, and drummer Ryan Sawyer—have released their debut LP on Northern Spy. A teeming landscape of interfolded concord and discorded, movement and stillness, it suggests the path of water from the glacial Canadian headwaters of the Columbia River to their exit on the coast of Oregon, Wooley’s native land.
