At Big Ears 2019, the great guitarist Bill Frisell will play at least five times—with bassist Thomas Morgan, in the new quartet Harmony, with a world-premiere quartet featuring Aurora Nealand, with saxophonist Greg Tardy, and alongside the films of Bill Morrison. (Who knows, maybe there’s more?) We found this quote in a recent Irish Times profile most appropriate, then: “All the people I’ve had success playing with have an openness and a sense of joy in the music itself.
