Blue Plate Specials + Beats and Eats
The WDVX Blue Plate Special is a free live performance radio show held at noon Monday through Saturday at the WDVX Studios located at the Visit Knoxville Visitors Center, and it’s our distinct pleasure to offer two special Big Ears editions of the Blue Plate Special during the festival weekend.
• First up will be a Blue Plate Special with Susanna feat. Giovanna Pessi, Frode Haltli & Cheyenne Mize + Susan Alcorn. The first performance will showcase all star lineup of Norwegian pop star Susanna, Swiss harpist Pessi, accordion player Haltli, and Kentucky based multi-instrumentalist Mize. This will be followed by a performance by the Baltimore based pedal steel guitarist Susan Alcorn, which is sure to inspire.
• Next, join us for an afternoon Blue Plate Special featuring Anna & Elizabeth + Poet El’Ja Bowens on Friday, March 23. This unique combination of back-to-back performances by harmonious Appalachian duo Anna & Elizabeth followed by award-winning spoken word poetry from El’Ja is not to be missed.
• On Saturday, we’ll offer a Blue Plate Special featuring Steve Gunn, which will provide audiences a rare opportunity to witness the prodigious guitarist perform in an intimate setting. These performances will be free and open to the public, so don’t miss out!
While you’re at the Visit Knoxville Visitors Center, stop by Beats and Eats at Visit Knoxville — your one-stop destination for quick food and drink options from some of our favorite local food trucks! Honeybee Coffee Co.
