DJ/rupture: JULIUS EASTMAN MEMORIAL DINNER

Writer and musician Jace Clayton, more-often known as DJ/rupture, reimagined some of minimalist pioneer Julius Eastman’s music with his project, The Julius Eastman Memory Depot. In a recent interview, DJ/rupture explains Eastman’s legacy as an openly gay, black musician in the 1970s: “[It] didn’t fit with a lot of the narratives then and now about what classical music is supposed to do, who is supposed to be able to make classical music, even the type of themes this music can address.” DJ/rupture will present his “Julius Eastman Memorial Dinner” concert at Big Ears on Sunday, March 26.
