ESSENTIAL TREMORS X BIG EARS

BIG EARS PARTNERS WITH ESSENTIAL TREMORS FOR 2023 ARTIST SERIES

Big Ears is proud to announce a partnership with Essential Tremors, a podcast and radio show distributed by WYPR-FM and National Public Radio that interviews musicians and other creative people about the music that shaped them. Beginning at the end of September, Essential Tremors will showcase one Big Ears-related guest each month until the 2023 festival.
In each episode of Essential Tremors, co-produced by Matthew Byars and Lee Gardner, a guest discusses three pieces of music that have shaped their own work. There are no wrong answers, and the results are often surprising, even emotional.

The partnership is a natural match, as the show and the festival share a similarly eclectic outlook toward programming. Minimalist composer Steve Reich, the late jazz trumpeter Jaimie Branch, electroacoustic explorer Claire Rousay, Saharan guitar hero Mdou Moctar, poet and critic Hanif Abdurraqib, and pop trickster Juana Molinaare among the many artists that have appeared both on Essential Tremors and onstage at Big Ears.

Episodes premiere the last Thursday of every month and are available at WYPR-FM’s Podcast Central, NPR’s podcast hub, and wherever else you get your podcasts. Essential Tremors’ Big Ears series begins this month and continues through February, so subscribe today!
