It is rare that two acclaimed solo artists, each just reaching their creative prime, come together to create something completely new. Nevertheless, two of NYC’s most innovative MCs, billy woods (Super Chron Flight Brothers) and Elucid (Cult Favorite, Lessondary, Nostrum Grocers, and Small Bills), joined forces as Armand Hammer in 2013. After appearing on the same compilation, woods sought out Elucid to contribute to his long awaited solo album, History Will Absolve Me, in 2011. Those early sessions would lay the groundwork for Armand Hammer and a lasting friendship between the two MCs. Cerebral, gutter, intense – the end result is an uncompromising tour-de-force that sounds like nothing else in rap music today. The pair recently announced a new album in the works for 2023, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, produced by DJ Haram.
