“He Made the World Bigger” – the Legacy of John Zorn

with John Medeski, Dave Lombardo, Barbara Hannigan , Jorge Roeder, and Hank Shteamer

Fri   Mar   27   2026 - 9:30 AM Knoxville Museum of Art

Across the past 40-plus years, John Zorn has fostered a new creative community drawn from the worlds of jazz, metal, contemporary classical, electronic music, free improvisation and more. Those who collaborate with him often report having their horizons expanded and their previous methodologies challenged. In this panel, music writer Hank Shteamer — who explored Zorn’s work in a 2020 Rolling Stone piece, in which vocalist Mike Patton said of Zorn that he “made the world bigger” — will speak with Zorn associates about how he has challenged and inspired them, and opened up new pathways in their art.
