Tsons of Tsunami

Born in California and now based in Brooklyn, Simon Hanes is a composer/performer/arranger and one of the major figures in the newest generation of the NY Downtown music scene. Simon’s wild energy is always a highpoint of any live performance. In Tsons of Tsunami he leads a cutting-edge group of musical mavericks: Grammy-winning hornist Kevin Newton, legendary rhythmist/composer/bamboo artist Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin & Wood), furiously pocketed bassist Jesse Heasly, fantastically expressive bassist/theatre director Anna Abondolo & mind-bending drummer Jon Starks in a program of experimental surf-based original compositions.
