Wow: Newsweek has named Lonnie Holley’s MITH the No. 2 album of the year, alongside the likes of Prince, Pusha T, and Yo La Tengo. “Holley’s unrehearsed proclamations on police brutality and slavery acquire a surreal urgency…. No other album from 2018 sounds like this,” they write. And it’s been a big week for Lonnie, as Sundance announced that his short film, I Snuck Off the Slave Ship, will have its world premiere there in January.
