Marc Ribot On Resistance and Its Songs

With Songs of Resistance (ANTI-), Ribot set out to assemble a set of songs that spoke to this political moment with appropriate ambition, passion, and fury. The eleven songs on the record feature a wide range of guest vocalists, including Tom Waits, Steve Earle, Meshell Ndegeocello, Justin Vivian Bond, Fay Victor, Sam Amidon, and more.

Before the album’s release, Ribot sat down with No Depression’s Corbie Hill to chat about the making of the record and the nuances between protest and resistance.
