Harold Budd Talks Inspiration and World Premieres

Legendary ambient composer and pianist Harold Budd recently drifted into Toledo for his first trip to Ohio and a three-day residency at the Toledo Museum of Art. He premiered several pieces and played with a variety of ensembles, as he will at Big Ears 2019. In this playful interview, biography, and review for Bowling Green Independent News, Budd talks about his time in Toledo and his current sources of inspiration. We can’t wait to have him in Knoxville: “This was music that explored the boundary between silence and sound. The spareness pulled the audience in, joining them in the concentrated exercise of listening intently.” Read the interview here.
