Jazz Musician Joseph Jarman Dead at 81
We’re saddened to learn of the passing of Joseph Jarman, a cofounder of the Art Ensemble of Chicago and the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, organizations that changed the very fabric and breadth of jazz. Though Jarman left the group in 1993, his contributions to the Art Ensemble’s first quarter-century remain monumental. This year, the Art Ensemble will perform at Big Ears 2019, commemorating 50 years of music. We’ll be thinking about Joseph.
