AMERICAN MODERN OPERA COMPANY AND KNOXVILLE SYMPHONY STRINGS WITH DAVÓNE TINES

Bass-baritone Davóne Tines (a “singer of immense power and fervor,” Los Angeles Times) performs with Knoxville Symphony Orchestra strings in Were You There, an hour-long theatrical meditation featuring hymns, spirituals, songs, and audience participation. The piece asks, “How do we move from darkness to light, how do we find spiritual communion?”

Were You There is a production of the American Modern Opera Company, directed by AMOC Co-Artistic Director Zack Winokur, including music composed by AMOC Co-Artistic Director Matthew Aucoin and traditional songs arranged by Michael Schachter, who will be featured on piano.
