BIG EARS

The ladies of Lucius and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam

Fronted by the enchanting Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, Lucius has drawn acclaim for powerful songs showcasing taut hooks, along with their mesmerizing stage presence and bold visual aesthetics. Multi-instrumentalists Peter Lalish and Dan Molad round out the group. Witness Lucius’ vocals — praised by The New York Times as “especially gorgeous” — at their Big Ears debut this spring.

Returning to the festival this year is Rostam Batmanglij, also known as Rostam, who performed as part of the prep-pop outfit Vampire Weekend at Big Ears 2010. After departing from the band to pursue independent projects, Rostam has produced music for Solange and Frank Ocean, and released a stellar debut solo album Half Light.

Both Lucius and Rostam enhance this year’s lineup with their unique flavor of indie pop.
