Listen: Julianna Barwick Remixes Mary Lattimore’s “Never Saw Him Again”

Mary Lattimore, who we added as a special surprise to Big Ears 2019 just last week, has another surprise this week: On Friday, she will release Hundreds of Days Remixes, an eight-track reimagining of her terrific 2018 album, Hundreds of Days. The record features the likes of Sigur Rós’ Jónsi, Sin Fang, and Steve Moore. You can also hear Julianna Barwick’s soft-beat version of “Never Saw Him Again” now. Barwick begins with a bed of her vocals, drifting in the distance like a canvas. Between the stuttering beat and that drone, she suspends cuts and slivers of Lattimore’s harp, so the music moves with a motion that feels somehow surreal and straightforward in the same instant. Give it a spin.
