LISTEN: Mary Lattimore’s reflective new piece, ‘Mary, You Were Wrong’

When Mary Lattimore was in her native North Carolina over the holidays, she sat down at her mom’s harp and her childhood piano and wrote a gorgeous, reflective new song—“Mary, You Were Wrong,” a five-minute gaze into the middle distance that feels like an expression of gratitude and a contemplation of the future and past at once. You can imagine watching the sun set from the front porch of your youth here, considering all the changes you’ve witnessed in the intervening years and the ones to come. Lattimore comes back to the South to play Big Ears 2019 next month.
