At last, Peter Gregson’s complete reinterpretation of Bach’s six Cello Suites is out today via Deutsche Grammophon. It’s an enormous undertaking in which the young Scottish cellist and composer has translated one of the landmarks of any cellist’s repertoire for his own generation, with synthesizers that breathe like acoustic instruments and a five-cello ensemble that adds new musical contours.
