Listen: Sons of Kemet’s Theon Cross Releases Solo Album

Earlier this week, we mentioned a BBC interview with Nubya Garcia and Sons of Kemet tuba player Theon Cross. You can now hear the two tangle on the rambunctious “Activate,” the opening track from Cross’ forthcoming solo album, Fyah. As he rumbles in the lower register, setting up a thundering rhythm, she spirals forward overhead, playing with the élan of an electric guitarist stepping into the spotlight. The full record is out February 15, but there’s no reason to wait to hear this incredible tune.
