Watch: Uncle Earl Performs “The Last Goodbye”

A decade ago, the success of Uncle Earl— Kristin Andreassen, Rayna Gellert, KC Groves, and Abigail Washburn—reflected a sort of awakening in Americana, with new songs that felt like age-old standards and international interest that shaped a vogue new image for the music of Appalachia. One of those songs, and one of those performances, is “The Last Goodbye,” a stunning snapshot of two young lovers who could never quite figure it out. Led by Washburn but sumptuously backed by the rest of the band, it is a perfect folk ballad. Listen for it at Big Ears 2019, where this classic quartet reconvenes.
