We loved Maura Johnston’s essay in Slate Music Club about alternate ways to discovering songs in 2018, ones that didn’t involve the algorithms of streaming monoliths or curated Apple playlists. “Scrolling through music is certainly more fun than flicking around Twitter,” she writes, “although it can be just as frustrating.” Not frustrating: The sight of Gabriel Kahane’s Book of Travelers on the year-end list attached at the end.
