Streaming: Lonnie Holley at Big Ears (Part 2)

In October 2020, Lonnie Holley — the essential visual and performing artist — came to Knoxville to record with a series of musicians from across the region.

Big Ears captured Lonnie’s Knoxville sessions for a series of streaming films. This new 70-minute show — the second coming out of those sessions — has Lonnie making music with an expert ensemble of collaborators outdoors at the Southern Railroad Depot and inside at The Mill & Mine.

Musicians who participated in these sessions, supporting Lonnie, include cellists Ben Sollee and Dave Eggar, guitarists Christopher Paul Stelling and Phil Faconti, drummer Jordon Ellis, and fiddler Evie Andrus.

In addition to performance, the film includes footage of Lonnie describing his breathtaking personal history while crafting one of his signature wire art pieces.

The stream will be available starting at 8:00PM (ET) on Friday, March 26 and will be available for on-demand viewing through 12 Midnight (ET) on Thursday, April 1. Big Ears will also host a meet and greet with Lonnie for a limited audience at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 26; patrons who purchase the meet and greet will also have access to the concert stream.
