Watch: Trance Map+ Live at Eglise Saint Merry

It’s Hump Day. Want to slip on your headphones at your desk and disappear for a while? That’s what Trance Map+ is for. Founded by experimental saxophone innovator Evan Parker and live sampling guru Matthew Wright, Trance Map+ shapes slowly shifting terrains of improvisation over long periods of time. During this engrossing two-hour set, Parker deploys his circular breathing technique in whispers and screams while drummer Toma Gouband cavorts with his kit. Wright flattens and mangles the signals, moving between powerful drone and percolating drift. They’ll do this at Big Ears 2019.
