Henry Threadgill’s Make a Move
“Make A Move deftly handles Threadgill’s melting-pot method of incorporating world music” – Jazz Times
Henry Threadgill’s timing in creating a new sound with a new working band has always been impeccable. The composer-saxophonist’s formation of Make A Move in the mid 90s is no exception. Composed of veteran Very, Very Circus guitarist Brandon Ross, accordionist Tony Cedras, five-string electric bassist Stomu Takeishi, alto saxophonist Darius Jones, and drummer J.T. Lewis, Make A Move brings a distinctive timbral palette and a fresh rhythmic slant to each of Threadgill’s many compositional facets. They released their first album, Where’s Your Cup in 1996, and their second, Everybody’s Mouth is a Book in 2001.
