What happens when four stellar musicians need a creative outlet during lockdown? Void Patrol. The all-star quartet fuses their musical backgrounds of jazz, drone, and metal to take listeners to the cosmos. Drawing on decades of experience with experimental music, the members of the quartet — Colin Stetson (saxophones), Elliott Sharp (strings and electronics), Billy Martin (drums and percussion), and Payton MacDonald (keyboard percussion) — have collaborated with Arcade Fire, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Tom Waits, Alarm Will Sound, Jack DeJohnette, Oliver Lake, Iggy Pop, and many more. Their debut recording, Void Patrol, was released in 2022. The record features five songs, all named after stars and constructed remotely, layer by layer, for a stellar sonic journey.
